Founded in 1884 under the name of the Kütüphane-i Umumi-I Osmani, this
library has a long history and is located between the Bayezid Mosque and the
Sahaflar Bazaar. Restorated by Tabanoglu Architecture, the work was awarded as
an international renovation of the year.
First of all, you
put your bag in the locker at the entrance to the library and you can sit at
the table with the number on the card given to you. If you come to the library
to do research, this is a good address because there are over 1,000,000
documents, about 835,000 books, countless magazines, newspapers ... everything
you can search for. The property here, All kinds of printed publications in
Turkey can be found. There is no membership system in the library, so you can't
borrow books, and since this is a compilation library, you demand the books by
filling in vouchers.
If you came to the library for
study purposes, the atmosphere is really great. There are lights on each desk,
the environment is bright. Sometimes the staff walk around in order to maintain
the silence and they do their best. In addition, my advice to you is to be here
at 10:00 at the latest in order to find a place. It has a capacity of 120
people. Places are filling up quickly. (We went to 10.30 in the morning and the
place had 5-6 people left.)➠Notes:
